Revolution Wind Receives Final Approval from U.S. Department of the Interior Offshore Construction on the First Utility-Scale Offshore Wind Farm for Rhode Island and Connecticut Slated to Begin in 2024
Revolution Wind has received approval of the project’s Construction and Operations Plan (COP) from the U.S. Department of the Interior’s Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM), which is the final decision needed from the agency to move the project toward the start of offshore construction.
The New England Science & Sailing Foundation (NESS) opened registration for its 2020 Summer Camp. NESS summer programs run Monday through Friday for 10 weeks (June 22 - August 28). The half-day and full-day programs are open to students from ages 4-17 and located in Stonington, CT.NESS, a nationally-recognized and award-winning ocean adventure STEM education nonprofit, provides students of all ages with year-round programming that includes marine science, sailing, powerboating, and adventure sports. NESS's Pfizer’s Groton Laboratories and the Clinical Research Unit, New Haven will support more than 60 programs in Southeastern Connecticut, the greater New Haven area, and southern Rhode Island through its 2019 competitive grants program.
Priority was given to programs that bring science and math to students from elementary through high school. Additional awards were made for programs that provide for the underserved or to support local civic and cultural institutions. Groups receiving support in 2019
Marine Maker Day Returns June 8
Groton, CT – Ignite, a program of Thames River Innovation Place, is pleased to announce the return of its Marine Maker Day, an exploration of marine technology for students in grades 7 through 10. The full-day program will take place on Saturday, June 8th from 9 am - 4 pm at Project Oceanology in Groton. The registration fee of $45 includes an outing on a research vessel, Arduino kit and lunch. Scholarships are available. NESS, a nationally-recognized and award-winning ocean adventure STEM education nonprofit, provides students of all Stonington, CT – Project Oceanology and the New England Science & Sailing (NESS) invite teachers in grades 4-12 for a free, 2-day professional development program and that will focus on the science of the Long Island Sound with STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Math) and NGSS (Next Generation Science Standards). The program will last from 2:00pm on Friday, October 19 to 2:00pm on Saturday, October 20.

Pfizer Inc. has announced that 51 nonprofits in Connecticut and Rhode Island, including the Garde Arts Center and Project Oceanology, will receive funding support this year.
